While Georgia might be a good while away from getting snow, if we do this year, you may be moving to a new part of the country that will experience snow soon. When you are thinking about everything you need to do before you move, the weather is a big thing to consider.
As Atlanta interstate movers, we have moved families all across the country. We have experienced all sorts of weather conditions. Here are a few tips to help you plan for moving in the winter:
- Check Utilities- Be sure to set up the utilities before you get there. You don’t want to get to your new house when it is below freezing and find out that your heater and electric don’t work.
- Use Salt- You might get ice on the sidewalk of your new home. It is a good idea to keep everyone safe by salting the walkways.
- Cover the Floors- Cover high traffic areas to prevent damage to your floors. You don’t need multiple people tracking in snow and salt into your new home. It is also a good idea to give them a place to wipe off their shoes.
- Emergency Kit- In addition to everything you need to pack into your car be sure to have items in case of a snow emergency. You will want plenty of blankets, food, water, and working flashlights. It is also a good idea to keep winter gear including boots, gloves, hats, and ice scrapper in your car.
